Ukrainian influence: 2008 – present

12 years of seasonal farm life; experiencing, observing, and learning that nature is always ready to surprise; has led to a change in my art perspective.I am exploring symbolic ideas in art, because it now seems more true than representational expression. I believe this shift in thinking is a result of my farming experience. The symbolic form I am drawn to is Ukrainian traditional folk art since it is part of my heritage. I do not wish to repeat precisely traditional images because that would not be authentic to my experience with this land.
